Resource Efficiency and Waste Management for Off-grid Solar products (REWMOS)
ABOUT REWMOS
Resource Efficiency and Waste Management for Off-grid Solar products (REWMOS) is a project being implemented by Kenyan run company, Solibrium-Solar Ltd., in partnership with Swiss organizations REPIC and Myclimate.
These organizations are dedicated to reducing the negative environmental impacts of solar home systems (SHS), by introducing an economically viable business model for electrical waste management and recycling of SHS components.

REWMOS PRIMARY AIMS
-
Reduce the negative environmental impacts of SHS at the end of their lifespan and increase the value associated with owning a SHS for the end-user.
-
Identify the best practices for disposal/recycling at the end of a SHS lifespan; develop a network of stakeholders and partners to facilitate the processes.
-
Identify a viable business model that can bring all stakeholders together; that is attractive to the end-user, viable for retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers, and practical for recycling.

PROJECT REPORTS
The purpose of a stakeholder workshop is to discuss the issues related to electronic waste from off-grid solar products, best practices for disposal/recycling at the end of their lifespan. We look to identify a viable business model that can bring all stakeholders together that is attractive to the end user, viable for retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers, and practical for recycling.
The workshop will take a form that is an interactive learning and exchange forum, with the opportunity and expectation that all participants actively contribute to the discussion.
